He said seeking answers to the challenges and requirements regarding science and technology in Myanmar, eager involvement of youths in developing science and technology, emergence of educated youths, with innovative ideas and higher thinking power, development of the science and technological sector, and youth empowerment are the goals of the workshop.
As the presentations will be based on a combination of findings of the scholars doing research at the universities in Russia and the knowledge and experience in hand, they will be beneficial for the nation and science and technological sector. Hence, participants at the workshop should exchange knowledge and views with the speakers.
The country needs a lot of experts in science and technological, energy, industrial, agricultural fields and production technology for its progress. Even though the ratio of working age people is high in the country, it still has the human resources shortages in industrial, agricultural and production enterprises.
Workshops of this kind should be held continuously for promoting the youths’ ability in critical thinking, analytical skills, problem-solving skills, and collec-tive action, as well as curiosity, innovative thinking, rational thinking, patriotism and love for the country.
The State is supporting the education sector in accord with the motto, “Let us ensure the education sector for the development of the Nation”, increasing the financial allotment for it annually. The work of generating highly intelligent youths and human resources imbued with intellectual and technological knowledge and prowess, and actual progress of the abilities and power of youths as the future leaders of the State calls for strenuous efforts of the entire nation.
Currently, the majority of world nations are using data and information in multiple sectors for development. Data science research programs, information, activities on information, science and technology, and other activities that practically benefit the country must be carried out.
The fastest growing technology today is AI. AI technologies are widely used in health, education, economy and manufacturing fields in developed countries in the world. Efforts must be made to use AI in education, healthcare and transportation sectors in our country and as our country is agricultural one, measures must be taken to use AI in agriculture comprehensively.
Steps must be taken to use AI beneficially, to build a strong AI ecology and to nurture capable human resources. Through the development and utilization of AI, effective efforts must be made for development and socioeconomic progress of the country.
In connection with the nuclear energy sector, measures must be taken for development of nuclear technology and peaceful use of nuclear energy in Myanmar. As nuclear and radiation technologies can be used in health, agriculture, livestock breeding, industrial and environmental conservation sectors in addition to the energy sector, the country needs skilled human resources to establish nuclear infrastructures.
Attempts being made by us today are not ordinary works and it is important to carry out tasks with the aim of achieving a breakthrough and leaving a milestone for the country. I would like to urge all to make concerted efforts by bearing in mind that using time beneficially and enthusiasm are key to achieving goals.
Continued efforts must be made to use one’s expertise to carry out research that will serve the interests of the country by studying science and technology, which are progressing time after time, without losing sight of them. I would like to urge all to make efforts to effectively use modern technologies taught here in Myanmar and to perform relayed duties to serve the interests of the country. Then, the Senior General urged all to explore science and technology challenges and needs of the country at the forum expressed his wish for them to be good citizens of future Myanmar by bearing good intentions and conviction to serve the interests of the country.
Then, representatives of trainees who were studying at civilian universities in the Russian Federation held discussions on science and technology surveys according to their academic disciplines.
In connection with their discussions, the Senior General and union ministers, who took part in the discussions, inquired about matters of interest and made suggestions.
Then, the Senior General made concluding remarks, saying investment for conducting research is very huge and requires enormous human resources that can study at universities. All students are required to be qualified ones and continued efforts must be made to nurture a large numbers of qualified students. It can be seen that trainees held discussion on their learning experience and views and it is necessary to take the realities of the country into consideration.
Everyone is required to serve the interests of the country and regions through what they have learnt not only in research but also in practical application. Universities and college in our country are required to nurture students who can work in their practical fields on completion of the courses. As there are weaknesses in the education system of the country, it must be upgraded by carrying out reforms. The government held discussion with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and Technology with the aim of nurturing a large number of educated youths and has opened polytechnic universities and institutes. Similarly, in connection with agriculture and livestock breeding, agriculture and livestock breeding basic education high schools for students who have passed basic education middle schools have been opened.
Continued efforts must be made to further study and be well versed in science and technology disciplines, which are making progress time after time. Efforts must also be made to serve the interests of the country and the people through academic disciplines and knowledge one has attained. As everyone is studying advanced academic disciplines in a foreign country, it is necessary for all to make progress in individual lives and to be students who deserve scholarships provided by the government. I want all to serve the interests of the country based on good conviction and knowledge. As the future of the country must be built with educated human resources, everyone is urged to exert efforts consistently.
Then, the Senior General and delegation members cordially greeted the trainee student.
